Our annual Harvest Festival will be Sunday, October 11 with entry from 12-4pm. This is an outdoor event, with a large covered tented area. Please dress accordingly! Entrance at the Onderdonk Avenue gate.
International Archaeology Day is a celebration of archaeology and its contributions to society. Every October, the Archaeological Institute of America and archaeological organizations around the world present archaeological programs and activities for people of all ages and interests.
Try archaeology-inspired activities and discover how archaeologists learn about the past. Touch historic artifacts, try your hand at assembling a replica terra cotta pot, participate in a mock Archaeological excavation and record your findings and more!
Learn from real life Archaeologists about the important work they do.

Come hang out with friends and make some new ones on the Onderdonk House lawn. You can play lawn games, take a stroll through the gardens, and watch the sunset. Learn about the history of Arbitration Rock and the Onderdonk House while you’re there.
Don’t forget to bring a blanket or chairs to get comfy. Light refreshments will be available for purchase or feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks.

Learn the historic craft of basket weaving with the Greater Ridgewood Historical Society. The workshop will guide you through the steps to create your own basket from woven reeds. You can even decorate your basket with beads!
Come join us for a fun and relaxed in-person Garden Party! Enjoy the beautiful outdoors at the historic Onderdonk House, mingle with friends, and soak up the lovely vibes. Perfect way to spend your afternoon surrounded by nature and good company. Don’t miss out on this charming gathering hosted by Emily Vieyra, 18th Century affectionate!

Join the Society for an evening with John Adams, portrayed by George Baker. He will present his views of the nation, history and family life in a humorous and inspiring speech. He will be dressed in the clothes he would have worn as the Second President of the United States. Adults $25, Members $20, Seniors $15, and Children $5.

Join the Society for an evening reliving the historic Ridgewood and Glendale Picnic Parks from the turn of the century. Board member Lauren Lachowsky will share her research with an audiovisual presentation including interactive maps of the parks that have disappeared.

Join us for loads of Easter fun outside at the historic Vander Ende-Onderdonk House Museum in Ridgewood, Queens! Saturday April 4th, Timed entry, with two sessions, beginning at: 12 PM and 2:30 PM.
We’ll be dyeing eggs the natural way! We will have hard-boiled eggs. Bring your own basket. Take photos with Adrian the Bunny, enjoy tea, toys, and games! The event will be outdoors, so please dress accordingly. Special guest, Dawn Elliot, a historical interpreter of 18th Century living.
Tickets are $5 for Children Under 12 & $10 for Adults. Capacity is limited, please purchase in advance. Activities will begin promptly, so please arrive at the start of your session.

Closing out the series in March is the exceptional Christian Apuzzo. A guitarist who specializes in folk, bluegrass, and country.

Join the Society at 5 PM for a celebration of Winter Solstice - Dec 20 (officially Dec 21, 2025 at 10:03 EST). The winter equinox represents the shortest day and the longest night in the northern hemisphere. Throughout the centuries, many cultures have celebrated the end of darkness and the return of light! Bring a lantern, flashlight or even your cell phone and enjoy a parade around the Onderdonk grounds concluding with hot chocolate. This event is free. The Society may have some special surprises, so don't miss this inaugural event at the Onderdonk House.

Join the Greater Ridgewood Historical Society and the family of Helen Ries as we gather to celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of Helen Ries with the dedication of the John R. Ries & Helen Ries Memorial Picnic Grove at the historic Vander Ende–Onderdonk House Museum.
The dedication ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 12:00 noon.
Light refreshments will be served following the dedication.

Come on down to the historic Vander Ende-Onderdonk House on Sunday, December 8th, for our annual St. Nicholas Day celebration! The Museum will be decorated seasonally indoors for photos with St. Nicholas. We will have goody bags for children with a take home craft. Additionally, there will be refreshments available for purchase.
General Admission is $5 and FREE for children under 12. Please reserve General or Children’s tickets for all persons attending in your party. ALL ATTENDEES, BOTH ADULTS AND CHILDREN, MUST HAVE A TICKET.
