Visitor Information

The Onderdonk House is located at 1820 Flushing Avenue (near the corner of Onderdonk Avenue) in Ridgewood, Queens, and is open to the public on Saturdays, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. or by appointment. This summer, we will be closed on July 4 and Labor Day weekends. Donations of $3.00 are suggested.

For more information on programs conducted by the Society or for reservations, please call (718) 456-1776.

The Onderdonk House can be reached by public transportation:

  • Bus Q-54 passes and stops two blocks away at the intersection of Flushing and Metropolitan Avenues.
  • Bus B-57 passes the house on Flushing Avenue.
  • "L" subway line to Jefferson Street (Brooklyn) stop;
    proceed five blocks North (right) along Flushing Avenue
    .

Please note that for some reason beyond our control, the map at right does not show the "L" subway line, just the "M."  The Jefferson Street L Train stop is the closest stop to the house.

On street parking is available, plentiful and free.

Note:  Sometimes the the L train does not run on weekends, and when that happens the MTA provides shuttle service to and from all of its non-operating stations. The Jefferson St. shuttle bus stop will leave you at the corner of Wyckoff and Starr Streets. To get to the Onderdonk House, from Wyckoff Ave. turn right onto Jefferson St., left on Cypress Ave., then immediately right onto Flushing Avenue. It is about a 10-minute walk.
